Working Principle of Rock Drill
Jun 19,2024

The rock drill works according to the principle of impact crushing. When working, the piston makes high-frequency reciprocating motion, and constantly impacts the braze tail. Under the action of the impact force, the braze head, which is in the shape of a pointed wedge, crushes the rock and chisels it into a certain depth, forming an indentation. After the piston is returned, the brazier is turned at a certain angle, the piston moves forward, and a new indentation is formed when the brazier tail is impacted again. The fan of rock between the two indentations is sheared by the horizontal force generated on the braze head. The piston continuously impacts the end of the braze and continuously feeds compressed air or pressurised water through the centre hole of the braze, discharging the rock slag out of the hole, i.e. forming a circular borehole of a certain depth.
